While corporate cards are one of the best ways for restaurants to manage expenses and control spending, groups with multiple locations face significant challenges when using them.
First, it often takes weeks for a controller or bookkeeper to get receipts from dozens of cardholders across the group. Then, determining which location or locations a payment was for is a massive headache. Restaurants often build custom spreadsheets to track and tally all the transactions to figure out how much each location spent in a period, then execute a series of inter-company transfers to pay a card statement. As a result, reconciliation is complex, visibility is several weeks delayed, and effective spending oversight is nearly impossible.
